There are basically 2 types of techniques involves in hair transplant procedure
• FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) - After giving the anesthesia, the dermatologist cuts out a strip of scalp from the back of the head. The cut is around 5-7 inches deep, which is then closed with stitches.
The removed portion is then separated into small portions with a sharp surgical knife.
These portions are then implanted and they help in achieving natural looking hairs.
• FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) - In this hair transplant procedure, doctors will, first of all, shave your scalp from the backside. The doctor then removes hair follicles from there. The dermatologist then makes tiny holes from a blade on the area where hairs are required. Doctor may transplant thousands of hairs in one session. After the treatment is done the scalp is covered with bandages for a few days.
The stitches are generally removed after 10 days. According to doctors, 3-4 sessions are required for a head full of hair.
After the hair transplant procedure is done your scalp may be sore and you might require some antibiotics or medicines such as -
• Painkillers
• Anti-inflammatory to reduce the swelling.It is possible that hairs might fall after the surgery, but this makes way for new hairs and as a result, after almost a year new hair growth can be seen.
Some doctors suggest Rogaine to improve hair growth, it should be taken as per the prescription only.

The cost of hair transplant procedure basically depends on the amount of hairs you are aiming & it generally ranges from $4,000-$15,000. And it is also not covered in any insurance policy.
